PIN code is a 6 digit code abbreviated as “postal index number.”This code was introduced by “shriram bhikaji velankar” on 15 August 1972.

This system was introduced to avoid all the ambiguity to send the mails and to sort out the mails easily according to the area.This system made easy to locate the areas around the whole India.It has 9pin zones in which 8 are regional and 9th one is for Army.
To locate the area ,a 6 digit number was given in which
-1 st digit specifies the pin zone.
-2nd digit specifies the regions .
-3rd specifies district .
4,5,6 th specifies post office code.

If 500003 is the pincode ,then 5 represents southern region,50 represents Telangana,,500 represents the Rangareddy,003 reprents secundrabad postal area.
