A massive super cluster of galaxies was discovered by Indian scientists and named it as ‘Saraswati ‘. Superclusters, a group of clusters of galaxies, are the largest structures of stars, planets and other heavenly bodies in the universe, and very few of them are known. This is 400 crores(4 billion) light years away from the earth.”The Saraswati supercluster is observed as it was when the universe was 10 billion years old,” IUCAA said in the statement. It is predicted to have a mass equivalent to 20 million billion Suns.It is assumed that it occupied the scale of about 60 crore light year.
Team has Shishir Sankhyayan, a PhD student at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, prathik from Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, jacob from Newman College in Thodupuzha in Kerala, prakash from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur and was led by Joydeep Bagchi. This super cluster has 43 galaxies in it.The supercluster Saraswati lies in the Stripe 82 of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey(SDSS). It is in the constellation of Pisces. It is very hard to outline the boundaries of a supercluster. It is done by studying maps such as the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.
